Higher-order turbulence statistics and multiscale characterization of morphodynamics in a riverbank section with an upstream mining pit

Channel dredging has become a common phenomenon across several fluvial systems. Pits dredged in the riverbank can influence downstream turbulence and affect bank slope central channel morphodynamics. Erodible bed experiments were conducted laboratory flume having cross section with three different slopes, i.e., 25°, 31°, 40° without mining pit. Flow over near toe was most affected by pit excavation at upstream. Turbulence levels amplified within flow toe. The logarithmic scaling range of higher-order fluctuations is greater for case. complex interaction simultaneous processes like migration, sliding failure erosion, erosion studied multiple length scales time scales. A wavelet correlation analysis used to calculate celerity bedform migration along flow. Statistical bedforms smaller (up 15 mm scales) significantly higher due interaction. study reveals that instream notable effects on inherent nature statistics, especially toe, as well multiscale morphological structures.
